2016 PRESIDENT’S CLOSING

Dear Community Members & Friends,

We had a very successful Annual General Meeting on Sunday, March 6th, 2017 at the Mississauga Ram Mandir.

We have now completed 42 years in Canada and should be very proud as an organization and as Lohanas. Over the same period, our community has made tremendous progress. Two new generations of Lohanas have built on their parents pioneering spirit. We probably have one of the highest academic achievements as a community and we are very successful as business leaders and professionals in almost all fields. Proud Lohanas play a very important role in community leadership, in the broader Hindu and Indian communities.

As the outgoing President, I want to thank all the Community members (from Board members, to Project Chairs, to volunteers, to participants) for their unconditional support for 2016. We held amazing events from the Summer Picnic, Bhajan evening, Navratri, Chopda Poojan, Diwali Dinner & AGM. Our Funeral Team also supported so many families during their loss of their loved ones.

It is my pleasure to announce to the Community that we have a 2-year plan going forward.

For 2017, our Board members are as follows:

Kamlesh Thakrar – President
Mitesh Kantaria – Vice President
Leena Raja – Treasurer
Sejal Thakrar – Communications Director/Secretary
Bhagirath Raichada – Board of Director
Ashit Chandarana – Board of Director
Sharmil Mithia – Board of Director

For 2017 – Kamlesh Thakrar will assume the role of President to ensure our ongoing success and strength of our Community.

For 2018 – Mitesh Kantaria will assume the role of President and his team will be announced at a later date.

Mitesh is relatively new to Toronto, but he comes from a Family of very strong Lohana Pride and we are delighted to have him take a role this year and more important take the leadership position for next year. We as a Community are very fortunate as I know he will do us proud.

The Board will be supported unconditionally by Project teams that will ensure Summer Picnic, Diwali, Chopda Poojan, Annual Bhajans, AGM, new youth events, etc. are carried out this year.

Please mark your calendar today that Diwali will be celebrated on Sunday, October 22nd at Pearson Banquet Hall & Chopda Poojan on Thursday, October 19th at the same venue. All other dates/further information will be shared very soon.

Our outgoing and incoming Board have a very humble request for all Raghuvanshis: Please come and participate at all Lohana community events, Chopda Poojan, Diwali Dinner, Navratri celebrations, annual picnic, etc.  And more importantly, please make an effort to attend community funerals to give our full support to the bereaving families.

Once again, thank you all for your support in 2016 and for your continuous support this year.

Best Wishes,
Sunit Radia – Past President
