Welcome to Our Food Drive Campaign!

Are you looking for an opportunity to give back to our local communities around the GTA? Would you like to participate in a group volunteer day with your family and friends?

This year the Lohana Cultural Foundation of Toronto is doing something like never before.  We are organizing a five-month food drive to help collect food and/or monetary donations for the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto. In addition, one can also donate through their time by joining us on a date in the Fall at the Daily Bread Food Bank to help organize and sort through collected food.

The Daily Bread Food Bank is a registered charity that works to help end hunger in our local communities and change the way people think about poverty.  Did you know 18% of the population went an entire day without eating each month?  Or 30% of children went hungry at least once a month?  The average number of seniors visiting a food bank centre has increased to 8% since 2008.

We are so blessed to be a part of a growing community with so many tools, resources and networks.  We are confident that we can work together to help achieve our monetary goal of $1000 by November 1st, 2019.  We will also collect donations of non-perishable food items at the events throughout the year including Lohana Picnic, Navratri & Diwali Functions.

At the present moment these are the most needed items by the Daily Bread Food Bank:

Peanut Butter

Pasta Sauce

Canned Fruit

Canned Soup

Rice

Oatmeal

Beans (Lentils, Chickpeas, Kidney Beans etc)

Canned Vegetables

100% Fruit Juices

Baby Food & Formula

To summarize, here are the ways YOU can HELP:

  1. Monetary Donation: You can donate directly to the Daily Bread Food Bank on our Fundraising Page http://support.dailybread.ca/site/TR?pg=team&fr_id=1668&team_id=15237

Tax receipts will automatically be issued for donations of greater than $10.00

  1. Non-Perishable Food Items at one of our upcoming events
  2. Gift cards for grocery stores: We will shop for you!
  3. Your Time - Look out for more details on a volunteer day in the Fall for all ages of our community to come together to sort and organize collected food.
